Throughout the Edgar Cayce readings there is a consistent focus on health and healing. In a substantial number of these readings Cayce provides medical and spiritual advice regarding health issues. The Heartland Region is continuing this tradition for members by bringing you tidbits from the Cayce Readings and other helpful and fun health information. By focusing on health and healing as a major function of the region we hope to assist you in your spiritual development.

Edgar Cayce provided the following insights about exercise:
"After breakfast, work a while, after lunch rest a while, after dinner walk a mile." 3624-1

"There's no exercise better than walking or rowing or golfing!" 257-200

A Fascinating Routine!
Ellen Selover shared this interesting exercise with us.
"I just came across this exercise suggested for seniors, to build muscle strength in the arms and shoulders. The article suggested doing it three days a week. Just don't over-do it!
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-LB. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-Lb. potato sacks. Then 50-LB. potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-LB. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks."
